The Vilavella Convent, at the entrance to the town of Redondela as you arrive from the Interior Way to Santiago, belongs to the order of San Lorenzo Justiniano. It was founded in the year 1554. The part that underwent the least transformations was the church. These are made up of a rectangular nave divided into five sections by transverse arches, which correspond on the outside with as many buttresses, and on the outside of the sacristy there is an inscription that says: “This monastery was made by García Prego, Archdeacon of Cerbeira”. Above it is a shield in relief with the coat of arms of the Prego de Montaos family, also responsible for the so-called Casa da Torre (Tower House), the current hostel for pilgrims.
