In the center of the town, in the space next to the river that for a time was the tidal port, we find the park. It bears the name of Castelao, a prominent nationalist intellectual and politician, since 1982. In the center of the park there is a full-length sculpture of this figure, paid for by the neighborhood and the Redondela City Council. The park offers different rest spaces, with benches that are dedicated to outstanding people of local history and Galician culture in general (Casto Sampedro, Xoán Manuel Pereira, Federico García Lorca, Julio Cortázar…). Centennial trees, rosebushes and camellias offer a comfortable resting place next to the river, which relieves the hottest days with its freshness. From this place you can also see the viaduct, which is one of the emblems of the town of Redondela. It also has the Xohana Torres children’s park, in front of the Santiago Apóstol Fountain, being one of the most popular places for the children of Redondela.
